A brilliant paleontologist travels to Africa with a team of assistants in search of the remains of a three-million-year-old man. She comes into conflict with a rough-and-ready miner exploring the same territory for meerschaum, a special clay used for making smoking pipes, when both claim digging rights in Kenya's high country. Romance blooms as their hostility changes to respect and finally to unexpected love.
